About Rippa Media

Good books. Great stories.

Rippa Media is an independent publisher creating fiction and nonfiction for people who read because they enjoy it.

That sounds obvious. We think it should be.

Our fiction spans contemporary stories, speculative fiction, romance, suspense, historical fiction, time-slip and the occasional book that refuses to fit neatly into a category. What connects them isn’t genre. It’s readability.

We want stories that draw you in quickly, characters you want to spend time with and writing that never gets in the way of either.

We believe prose should be the pathway into a story, not an obstacle course. You shouldn’t need to reread a sentence three times to work out what happened. You shouldn’t need a dictionary beside you to appreciate good writing. And a book doesn’t have to be difficult to be intelligent.

It just has to be worth reading.

Our nonfiction follows much the same philosophy. We prefer useful ideas explained clearly, with real examples, personality and a little humour where it belongs. No padding a simple idea into 300 pages. No textbook pretending to be a conversation. And no making something complicated merely to make it sound important.

Books for actual readers

Rippa Media publishes under a collection of author names, allowing different kinds of books to develop their own identity while sharing the same underlying standard.

Some are warm. Some are funny. Some are suspenseful. Some wander into the past or explore what might happen in the future. Some simply look at ordinary people dealing with the complicated business of being human.

We also publish free short stories and novellas so readers can discover new authors and worlds without having to buy something first.

Because we’d rather you read one of our books and want another than convince you to buy one you won’t enjoy.

Independent by design

Being independent gives us the freedom to make decisions based on the book and the reader rather than on what happens to fit neatly into a publishing formula.

We can experiment. We can cross genres. We can publish an unusual idea because we think it’s good. We can make something shorter when it doesn’t need to be longer. And when something isn’t working, we can change it.

There are enough books in the world already.

We’d rather add ones people genuinely enjoy reading.

Welcome to Rippa Media.

Find something that looks interesting. Read a few pages. We’ll take it from there.
